The omicron variant worries Austrians, according to a survey. The majority of respondents adhere to Corona measures to prevent possible contagion.
As a survey conducted by the opinion research institute Unique research for the current issue of the news magazine “profil” shows, the majority of Austrians do not want to be infected with the Omicron variant under any circumstances.
Austrians for the most part adhere to Covid measures
When asked about their personal behavior, 50 percent say they continue to strictly adhere to all measures because they “absolutely do not want to be infected with Omicron.” 33 percent adhere to the measures “by and large,” but accept that they will “sooner or later become infected with Omicron.” 13 percent have “had enough of the measures” and don’t want to limit themselves, saying they don’t care about infection.
Younger people more carefree about Omicron infection
There are big differences among respondents by age group. Among the over-60s, a majority of 67 percent do not want to be infected under any circumstances and follow all measures; among the under-30s, the figure is only 32 percent. The majority of young people (51 percent) are prepared to catch the virus sooner or later.
